Matt. 18:19
Matt. 21:22

Mark 11:24

John 1:12

A week or so ago I was text chatting over the internet with a Christian friend in Canada. My friend’s 4 year old grandchild interrupted while we were chatting and started to send me groups of random letters which I replied to in a humourous vein. Half way through the 4 year old’s typing my friend said that the boy had said he wanted and was sending me thousands of dollars.

We hadn’t been talking about economics or finances or even money, so I took the whole thing lightheartedly. A few days later I discovered that the rent I had paid for June had not reached my landlady and there was no trace of it. I didn’t have enough money to pay it a second time. I sent an email to my landlady explaining the situation and promising to pay in July. At the same time I asked a few friends including the friend in Canada to pray for the situation.

While the friend in Canada and I were praying about the situation the grandchild again “sent” me thousands of dollars.

Well I opened up and told my friend a bit about my financial history. My friend said even though you are discouraged and find it difficult to believe, I do believe and God will change your situation and I am praying for just that so sleep well.

The next day after a phone call I discovered that what I had thought might be just a small amount of extra pension will be much larger and will cover the rent easily. So, God does provide and He does answer prayers.

When we pray and believe that He will answer our prayers He will answer. Sometimes it seems that prayer life can become totally dry and that God is not hearing or maybe hearing but not answering. Could it be that He is testing our faith. Even if we ourselves do not have the faith at any particular time, there are others, Christian brothers and sisters who will have the faith to believe and to pray in that belief and that God will and does answer.

Remember the man whose friends lowered a man down through the roof that Jesus could heal him. It was their faith that moved Jesus to heal the man. so;

1. we should always pray in faith for ourselves.
2. we should always seek the agreement and prayers of other believers
3. we should always be ready to pray in faith for the needs of others.

Amen
